Some rode in honor of loved ones lost. Some rode to conquer a fear and some to hone their skills for a personal best. Some had never even ridden in a barrel race before. The one thing they had in common was that they rode to raise money for Breast Cancer Network – and raise it they did!

The second and final Hopes n Dreams Pink Lady Classic took place at Gingin Campdraft Grounds on 25 March with 26 riders competing in the timed race to win the buckle honors and a suite of prizes. In order to qualify, each rider had to raise a minimum of $250 – and some raised thousands. The grand total raised by the event for Breast Cancer Network Australia was over $19,000.

Organiser Carina Stephens was thrilled with the result – a culmination of months of work.
“The last Hopes n Dreams Pink Lady Classic for Western Australia and it has been a “BEAUTY” just edging in front of Tilpa NSW to become the highest grossing donation to Breast Cancer Network Australia from any Hopes n Dreams Event so far. THANK YOU EVERYONE – Riders, Sponsors – Supporters and a special thanks to Jarrod Joe Hughes and Team 4BP Horses for making the day a little extra special and assisting us to achieve this AMAZING result. 4BP donate to Royal Flying Doctors, Isolated Children’s and Do It For Dolly and still managed to join in seamlessly with our Hopes n Dreams family and help us achieve this MAGNIFICENT result.” she said, also congratulating each winner on Facebook.

The grand total raised by the riders through online sponsorship was $12,700 and added to the proceeds of the 4BP horses auction of $4500 ( 50% to BCN and 50% to RFDS) plus the amazing $2400 raised by Kylie Lavender who shaved her head on the day, the total raised for the event tipped $19,000 and was still rising as promised monies are flowing in.

Organisers Carina Stephens and Sharron McCarthy would like to thank foundation sponsors SweetPro Australia and Northern Valley News as all the businesses who have supported Joe on his journey bringing the brumbies to Gingin. Riders received a suite of prizes kindly donated by Bush Whispers, Denim & Lace, Bel Jade, Max Wix leather, Roped in, Timber and Cotton, Peter Price and Cowgirl Sas. Sharron is also grateful for the kind help from Gingin Trading, Ken Johnson, Gordon Thompson who watered the area, Wayne Fewster who supplied the cattle and Deb Matteljan and Diane Lambert who made the morning tea and last but not least, Gingin Campdraft who donated the use of the arena!
