Thirty-five gymnasts of all ages came together on Saturday 9 December to celebrate the inaugural year of Wheatbelt Gymnastics in Gingin with an end of year display showcasing their skills, developed during 2017.
The gymnasts performed to over fifty parents and friends in their various age groups. The WAG (Womens Artistic Gymnastics) group finished with a display of beam, bar and floor, showcasing their unique talents from handstands, cartwheels, round offs, walkovers and handsprings.
All gymnasts were presented with a certificate of achievement by their very proud coach, as each child achieved a multitude of skills over the course of the year from beginner to advanced level.
Although all gymnasts shone in 2017, the major awards were presented to;
Most Improved: Deryl Tapiru with the poise and discipline of a ballet dancer.
Most Improved: Alec Williamson, who managed to give a big smile when receiving his award, for not giving up each term.
Coaches Achievement Award: Tahlia Carter
Coaches Achievement Award: Lilly Beckwith, whose perseverance at each session helped each gymnast achieve their skills and learn new ones.
Most Outstanding: awarded to Kayley Dean for her continued growth during 2017, selection to the WAG Talent Squad at HBF in Mt Claremont and her determination and focus from the first moment she commenced with Wheatbelt Gymnastics in February 2017.
The display finished with a thank you to Wheatbelt Gymnastics major supporter, IGA Gingin who assisted in sourcing some much needed equipment and photographs of the gymnasts by parents.
