Congratulations to all these students who have accepted leadership positions for the 2016 school year!
Each year students at Bindoon Primary School are given the opportunity to undertake leadership roles by nominating for Student Council, becoming Faction Captains and Vice Captains and leading our choir as Choir Captains. Our school believes every child has the potential to be a leader, given the right set of circumstances and environment. It is important, therefore, to put our students in situations where they are supported and provide them with the opportunity to be resourceful. By doing this, we enable students to develop their personal leadership capabilities.
Partaking in leadership opportunities builds responsibility, social and emotional skills, and a sense of belonging within our school community. We encourage our students to make decisions, take on roles and have an input into the direction of the school by giving them the building blocks of leadership and helping to develop the mindset required to lead others.
Students develop presentation and public speaking skills and learn how to be responsible and accountable. Being organised, planning ahead and working together as a team are all taught to our students so that they can begin to think like leaders.
The leadership skills that each young leader develops at Bindoon Primary School will stand our students in good stead as they leave primary school and head off to secondary school and beyond.
