On Saturday 3 November at 2pm Moora Recreation Centre wil host heritage detection specialist Bob Sheppard.
There are over 200 World War Two military sites in the mid-west. These extend from the bush to the beach. Archaeologist and historian Bob Sheppard has a personal connection to the military heritage of the region. His father trained here as a reinforcement following a mortar accident at Moora in March 1943. Bob believes the rich military history of the Mid West provides an opportunity to bring local communities together. Bob will reveal the hidden military history of the region and provide his vision for future military heritage projects.
Bob Sheppard is an archaeologist, historian and author. He is a Honorary Associate of the Western Australian Museum, recognised for his extensive contribution to that institution. He has his own consultancy, Heritage Detection Australia which has recently been engaged by the Shire of Dandaragan to carry out heritage investigations at Radar Station 48 at North Head near Jurien Bay.
