The Central Midlands Coastal Football League has joined in with national sporting codes in celebrating the vast contribution of Indigenous players by sporting a specially-designed jersey for the Indigenous round.
The striking jerseys were designed by WA Artist Kevin Bynder. Kevin’s artistic flair has earned him the privilege of being the chosen designer for the West Coast Eagles and Port Adelaide football club’s Indigenous jerseys in previous years.
Team member Blake Begg organised the jereseys for the round.
“As far as I know it has never happened in the CMCFL before. Being from an indigenous family, I knew the pride it would bring to make the day happen, so I set it in motion,” said Blake.
“I met Kevin Bynder last season when training with Nollamara under Des Headland – Kevin is Des’s cousin, and the Headland family are well-known in Moora.”
The jerseys were worn across both junior and senior teams.
