If the volume of the conversations happening in a room is an indication of how much enthusiasm there is for an occasion and a cause, then the Bindoon
Cancer Support Group’s Biggest Morning Tea on May 26th was a great success. The first impression gained on arrival was that a good time was being
had by all! Over 60 women, men and children came along to enjoy a wonderful community event. Everyone knew someone to chat to and the buzz of enjoyment and fun was palpable. Through the kind donations of prizes for a continuous raffle by many Bindoon businesses, most people who attended walked away with at least one prize. Equally, through the generous donations of food by the Bindoon Cancer Support Group members, volunteers, the Upper Chittering Fire Brigade and the Bindoon Bakehaus, a large and tasty spread of sweet and savoury dishes provided something for every palate to enjoy. The venue was generously made available by the Seventh Day Adventist Church and having access to both their kitchen and seating area made the catering efficient.

Through donations and sales of raffle tickets, $1135 was raised to support the initiatives of the local group. The Bindoon Cancer Support Group has been operating for eighteen months and provides education and support services to those with cancer along with their partners, family and carers – indeed anyone whose life has been affected by cancer is welcome. Their monthly meetings often include guest speaker presentations on topics relating to health, healing and well-being. Contact Vera on 9576 1083 or Marilyn on 9576 0090 if you would like to attend. Congratulations to Marilyn Morrice and Very Kay who organized the Biggest Morning Tea. Their efforts were admired and appreciated by all who attended. As Marilyn commented – the support and generosity of dozens of volunteers, businesses and other community members are ingredients needed to present a wonderful morning tea and these were present in great quantities at this year’s Biggest Morning Tea.
