The recent Coates Hire SSA Inc. Production Sedan National Title drew 70 competitors from all over the state of Western Australia including a number of prominent
eastern states teams to the township of Moora during the Labour Day long weekend. The event which was held over two huge nights of action, showcased the Production Sedan Speedway division. The hard working Central Midlands Speedway Association had been preparing for the event for well over 12 months
which also resulted in a number of venue upgrades. Some of the upgrades included two new spectator viewing areas, new corporate facilities as well as racing surface
upgrades in the lead up to the event.
Special camping facilities were also provided which allowed most of the travelling teams to be comfortable throughout the weekend’s events. Spectators and race teams alike witnessed some of the best racing of the 2015/16 summer season with many hard fought and close battles had out on the track. With constant national speedway media coverage including live commentary from the track via the internet over the two days of excitement, speedway fans interstate could hear events unfold
from the track live.
The event would see 20 of the nation’s best speedway sedan drivers line up for their chance to contest the event final which was conducted over a grueling 40 laps.
The final 20 drivers battled hard in a race that would eventually be won by Kalgoorlie based driver Tim Green. Green withstood the challenges of many drivers to win
the feature event resulting in him being crowned the new National Production Sedan Champion. Kane McDiarmid, Jacky Maroney and veteran Ron Belfield would round out the podium, all of which are Western Australian competitors and now the top 4 drivers in the country.
After the event was conducted, numerous messages of support were received by the Central Midlands Speedway Association praising them for the efforts in putting this
race meeting together. From the comfortable accommodation, tailored event merchandise, the venue upgrades, the helpful volunteers and the willingness of the Moora
township to assist with a number of event based initiatives, the Moora Speedway venue is now firmly planted on the Speedway Racing map in Australia which is now rated as one of the best in the country.
From the spectators who attended the event over the weekend, the national audience through social media and internet based avenues and the drivers/teams in the pits, there was nothing but positive feedback received on the way the entire meeting was conducted. The CMSA are very thankful of the support of Coates Hire who
provided much needed assistance as the naming rights sponsor to ensure that this event could be the best possible title. The CMSA also recognise all of the supporting
