The Bindoon and Districts Agricultural Society Inc. hosted its inaugural rodeo right after the Bindoon Show on Saturday 19th October. Even the showers didn’t
deter the loyal local crowd from watching the cowgirls and cowboys in action.

The Open Bullriding event was taken out by the young Ashley Black riding Franklin, who along with Graeme Wilton was one of the only two cowboys to ride 8 seconds. Locals dominated on the bucking broncos with Laurance Oversby from Bindoon and Wade McCarthy from Gingin tieing for first place in the Open Saddle Bronc and Muchea local John Turner winning the Open Bareback on the champion horse Redlands Rebel.

Mogumber champion Kayne Drew (pictured above), proved his skill winning the Novice Bull ride as well as the Local Steer ride.

The Juniors had some stiff competition with cowboys from NSW and Qld coming over chasing points for their Australian Titles. The trip was worthwhile for Luke Parkinson who won the Under 14 steer ride, local Muchea Cowboy Jack Collins was second.

The rodeo offered a great entertainment option for families before the fireworks, and next year’s event is bound to be even bigger and better, and let’s hope a little drier!
