The Vauxhall Owner’s Club of Australia are holding their fourth ‘Tag Along’ Tour, leaving Kununurra on August 1 and finishing in Kalgoorlie on September 4.

The tour will travel across the Kimberleys to Derby, down the coast to Port Hedland and then inland through Marble Bar to Karajini.
After a four-day break at Karajini, they head back to the coast at Exmouth and then south to Geraldton to see the wildflowers in their prime.

The cars will travel via Yalgoo and Sandstone to the Eastern Goldfields.

There are twenty-two entrants from as far away as Queensland. Many will be driving Vauxhalls or Bedfords. The earliest model on tour will be a 1954 Vauxhall Vagabond Convertible towing an early ‘Teardrop’ caravan from Melbourne.

Three members of the Vauxhall Owner’s Club from Gingin will be completing the tour. Jim and Hellen Selkirk, Brian and Margaret Linthorne and Phil Tremlett are ready and raring to go after two years of planning and preparation. They departed Gingin on July 24 to make it to Kununurra for the start.

For the last twelve months Jim, Brian and Phil have spent hours fully restoring Jim’s 1962 Vauxhall Victor and Brian’s 1966 Vauxhall Viva. Phil’s Vauxhall still requires a few more months of restoration. Phil will be in his four-wheel drive as a ‘back up vehicle’.
The tour gives those who prefer to travel in groups the opportunity to visit areas they may not wish to do so by themselves, or may not have known about.

The Gingin and Lancelin Branch of the Bendigo Bank are assisting the tour with necessary items for all the entrants, which is greatly appreciated. RACV and Penrite Oils are also valued sponsors.
