The engaging performance of ‘Red Flowering Gums’ which took place at the historical Enderslea Farm on May 2nd and 3rd offered unique historical insights into life in Western Australia nearly 100
years ago.

Written by Jenny Davis and produced by Diane Pope (the current owner of Enderslea Farm) the narrative explores the struggles and achievenments of four pioneering women in the year of 1929. One is former Presbyterian Ladies College headmistress Elsie Findlayson Ogden who must resign due to her marriage. The challenges she experiences when she leaves the city life and moves to live on Endersea farm will resonate with every farmers wife – even today! The insight into the life of Dame Edith Cowan and her committment to social change was also inspiring.

Congratulations to Diane Pope, Jenny Davis and the four actresses for bringing us this intriguing celebration of our region’s history.
