Approximately 1,000 people turned out in fine form to enjoy a beautiful day at the Moora Race Club’s Annual Race Day on 14 October. Sponsored by major supporters Moora Toyota and TABtouch, the day is a great combination of city fashion and country style and a chance for young and old to catch up and have some fun.

The Fashions of the Field competition was the highlight for many and the Ladies section, sponsored by Emerald Grain and Cunninghams Ag was won by Cadence Cook, of Moora with Runner-up Bev Stirling, also of Moora. Cadence has been nominated as a Wildcard Entrant to the WA Country Cups Competition – see right for more information on how to vote for Cadence.

The Men’s Fashions of the Field, Sponsored by CountryWide Insurance Brokers, was won by Tom Nothdurft of Moora and Ella King won the Children’s competition, Sponsored by Emerald Grain and Cunninghams Ag.

On the track, the big race – The Moora Toyota Moora Cup 2017 was won by Toned, owned and trained by Mark Bairstow and ridden by jockey Danny Miller. The 9 year old chestnut sired by More Than Ready, went on to win at Collie on 28 October and seems to be performing well for the Bunbury-based trainer.

The Moora Race Club thanks all the sponsors, including race sponsors Drovers Inn, Moora and Melrose Store, Moora and the many local businesses who helped out as well. Thanks also to the volunteers and race-goers who make this day possible.
