Member for Moore Shane Love MLA welcomed today’s announcement by Sport and Recreation Minister Mia Davies that three sporting clubs in the electorate would receive a combined $352,107 for facility upgrades.

The projects are among 22 in regional WA and 38 across the State that will share in $14.93 million in grants in the latest Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) Annual and Forward Planning Grants.

“Congratulations to Carnamah Bowling Club and the shires of Coorow and Gingin for receiving their respective grant approvals,” Mr Love said.

“I look forward to seeing these grants make a big difference to those communities, through both improvements to the facilities and the benefits that come from increasing participation in sport and recreation.”

The grants, administered by the Department of Sport and Recreation, include:

  • Carnamah Bowling Club ($73,152) – resurfacing of a synthetic bowling green
  • Shire of Coorow ($85,589) – conversion of a grass bowling green to synthetic at Coorow Bowling Club.
  • Shire of Gingin ($193,366) – Upgrade of 25m swimming pool at Gingin Iluka Aquatic centre.

“This funding will help our local clubs and local governments provide facilities for sport and recreation. It will also support a range of initiatives encouraging people to be more active,” Mr Love said.

“These funds help create a more vibrant community of sport and recreation clubs, which we know contributes to the mental and physical health and wellbeing of the entire community.”

The grants are designed especially for those cases where grassroots sport, recreation clubs, shires and councils need financial assistance to complete a project which might otherwise be out of reach.

In this round grants have been allocated to a range of projects.
