The town of Bolgart in the Victoria Plains Shire is set to come alive during the second weekend this coming October with the inaugural West Oz Blues Fest with early bird tickets on sale now.

The town will be abuzz with the atmosphere created by the exciting performances by WA, Australian and International artist line up.  Event Organisers Caroline Watkins and Rob Clarke stated that the West Oz Blues Fest will be held over three days starting Friday night October 9th at 4.30 pm.  Performances will continue through Saturday and Saturday night, all day Sunday concluding with the final performance at 8pm.

Mr David Lovelock, President of the Shire of Victoria Plains, is delighted that the West Oz Blues Fest is planning to hold their festival in Bolgart this October. He said that the Council has welcomed the opportunity to be involved with such a dynamic public event in the Shire.

The shire is excited that such a nationally significant event will be held in our part of WA.  We are confident that the organisers will run a truly unique, high standard, enjoyable festival.  The people of Bolgart, the Victoria Plains Shire and the region can all get involved and be proud to be a part of such a unique event” he added.

“Bolgart’s relative closeness to Perth will give people a great chance to come and experience a major Blues Festival in a country region and October is a great time to be in our part of the state” he said.

VPSC Chief Executive Officer Harry Hawkins said he was happy to be able to work with Caroline Watkins from Redtail Promotions & Event Management to bring the West Oz Blues Fest to Bolgart.

Caroline is working with the shire to ensure we provide a good experience for music lovers attending the festival.

Residents of Bolgart were consulted early by the promoters and support for the event was unanimous. This made it easy for Council to agree to support the application to host the event which has the entire Victoria Plains community buzzing with excitement, he said.

The shire will be undertaking improvements to the venue, the Bolgart oval, and adjacent freehold land, which will eliminate risks to patrons and also will be of long term benefit to ratepayers

Opportunities exist for local community groups and volunteers to be involved and local business can expect some spinoff from the large crowds expected to visit Bolgart for the weekend of the event.

South Ward Councillor and Deputy President Stephanie Penn said that the shire is delighted to be involved in such an interesting event, and everyone she has spoken to about this festival is looking forward to it. She added the West Oz Blues Fest will be a wonderful experience for the local community, and that everyone will be excited to see some new faces from outside Bolgart attending.

Event Organiser Caroline Watkins invites volunteers to apply for positions available in the team.  Bolgart Community Groups, volunteer service groups and sporting clubs can communicate with festival management to be involved in the inaugural West Oz Blues Fest.  Food Vendors and stall holders can also contact Caroline on 0417 957 055 for further information.
